Spiking is giving someone drugs or alcohol without their knowledge or consent. For example, putting a drug into a drink unknown to the drinker.

Anyone, anywhere, at any age, gender, sexual orientation, or ethnicity, can become a victim of spiking. It can be done by someone you know or by strangers.

The majority of spiked situations do not lead to theft or sexual assault. However, spiking can result in anxiety, emotional damage, and extreme suffering. Recovering from being spiked can take a long time.

You are at greater risk of being hurt or attacked if you have been spiked. Additionally, it is risky to operate a vehicle after being spiked. For this reason, reports of spiking are just as serious as physical attacks.
